About the job
The research assistant will primarily work with project administration as well as simpler material collection and research tasks within the framework of the research projects “Local Politicians' Working Conditions” and “Hidden Ties and Dark Interests”.
The tasks include assisting the project leader with basic project administration (meeting bookings, arranging workshops/seminars, supporting data management, and following up on milestones and deadlines) as well as conducting simpler research tasks (e.g., material collection such as media analysis, interviews, and transcriptions) as well as collecting previous research and writing research overviews.
In addition, it may also be relevant to perform simpler research tasks within the framework of additional research projects as well as being available for efforts to build CKS as a research environment and implement CKS's long-term research programs. The research assistant is also expected to actively participate in the department's activities such as seminars, research retreats, and workshops.
About you
We are looking for someone with a master's degree in political science, economics, or sociology. Your degree must be completed before the application deadline.
We want you to have:
- Documented interest in municipalities and municipal politics (as evidenced by e.g., the theme of your thesis or other work from your undergraduate studies).
- Documented experience of working independently (as evidenced by e.g., thesis or other work from your undergraduate studies).
- Documented ability to maintain work discipline and meet deadlines (as evidenced by e.g., that your thesis or other work from your undergraduate studies was submitted on time).
- Experience working with media reporting analysis (content analysis, text analysis) and/or experience working with quantitative methods (or expressed ambition to learn quantitative methods).
- Good collaboration skills, good organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Good language skills and proficiency in Swedish and English.

You will work at the Centre for Municipal Strategic Studies (CKS) which belongs to the Department of Culture and Society (IKOS). CKS serves as a meeting place for researchers and representatives from municipalities and related organizations. We work to develop and deepen strategically relevant knowledge to support sustainable societal development in the long term.

About the employment
The position as a research assistant is a fixed-term employment for 12 months, full-time.
